This is one of my very first “faux finshing” projects. I bought a cheap, plastic toy gun and re-finished it to look like metal.

This is what the toy looked like, straight out of the packaging.

The first thing I had to do was sand the entire thing. I used 100 grit sandpaper because I wanted to leave a brushed metal look on the finished gun.

I then plugged the screw holes with clay and sprayed down the whole thing with a matte black Krylon Fusion paint.

I used two colors (silver and gold) of Rub ‘n Buff to paint the gun. I made sure to leave the black coat showing through on places where grime would accumulate to dirty it up a bit.
